FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 26, 2005) – The Hopkins County Conservation District this week received $19,778 to help fund a Technical Service Provider (TSP) position.

The technicians offer expertise and high-quality service for implementing conservation programs. Each position is 80 percent federally funded, to be matched with 20 percent local funding. Funding is disbursed by the Kentucky Division of Conservation, an agency of the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet.

Funding is possible through an agreement with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The agreement establishes procedures of standards that conservation districts must meet to qualify for matching funds.

The conservation district pays 100 percent of any benefits provided to the TSP. The NRCS provides office space, equipment and training.
