Governor Ernie Fletcher to discuss retreat mining study, thank mine rescue workers

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Governor Ernie Fletcher, along with Environmental and Public Protection Secretary LaJuana S. Wilcher, will hold a news conference in Cumberland, Ky., today, Aug. 16, 2005, to discuss the need for a new study of retreat mining. The Governor and secretary also will recognize the efforts of mine rescue workers involved in last week's fatal accident at Stillhouse Mining LLC. The news conference will be at 3:45 p.m. EDT in front of the Appalachian Center at the Southeast Community and Technical College campus in Cumberland.
