Deputy Fire Marshal Honored
Richard Peddicord of Lexington, deputy Kentucky state fire marshal, has been honored by a national organization.
Peddicord was named Person of the Year by the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA). The award was presented recently at the AFAA’s national conference.
Peddicord was singled out for helping establish the association in Kentucky, according to its executive director, Tom Hammerberg. He also improved the working relationship between fire alarm contractors and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The AFAA comprises about 1,000 members throughout the country.
“Richard is well deserving of this recognition,” said Richard Moloney, commissioner of the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, which includes the fire marshal’s staff. “He has been an outstanding asset to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.”
Peddicord joined the Fire Marshal’s Office in November 2004. Previously, he spent more than 20 years in the electrical industry and 10 years in fire protection. He is a licensed electrical inspector and holds advanced certification in fire protection.
