Governor Fletcher appoints Chris Lilly executive director of the Office of Alcoholic Beverage Control
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 18, 2006) – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed Christopher Lilly as executive director of the Office of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). The office is an agency of the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet (EPPC).
Lilly previously was commissioner of the Department of Public Protection and executive director of the Office of Charitable Gaming, both agencies within EPPC. He came to the cabinet after 21 years as general counsel and chief legislative and policy analyst for the Republican Caucus of the Kentucky Senate.
“Chris Lilly brings a wealth of regulatory experience to the ABC,” said EPPC Secretary Teresa J. Hill. “He has a long record of commitment to public service, and I know he will continue that commitment at the ABC.”
The ABC regulates the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries in the Commonwealth through licensing, education and enforcement of Kentucky’s alcohol and tobacco laws. ABC has a special focus to combat youth access to alcohol and tobacco products.
Lilly is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, with a B.S. in political science and police administration. He earned a juris doctor degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
