- Gasoline Situation Gradually Improving
Tuesday, September 06, 2005 On Friday Governor Fletcher requested the U.S. EPA temporarily suspend the regulations mandating the sale of specialty reformulated gasoline, or “boutique fuels,” in certain parts of Kentucky. Fortunately, due to improving petroleum operations in the Gulf Coast, Kentucky was able to withdraw the request.
- Petroleum Pipelines Coming Back Online
Thursday, September 01, 2005 Gasoline pipelines that supply the Southeast were back online Thursday, but were not operating at full capacity. In addition, the Capline, a major crude oil pipeline delivering to many Midwest refineries from the Gulf Coast, was restarted Thursday and was operating at reduced rates after a four-day shutdown.

Thursday, September 01, 2005 Hurricane Katrina disrupted supplies of crude oil and caused the shutdown of refineries and pipelines along the gulf coast. As a result, Kentucky and other states are facing a tightening of supply for both gasoline and diesel fuel.

The speakers at the meeting discussed the use of biodiesel and ethanol in Kentucky.

Thursday, June 23, 2005 The Office of Energy Policy (OEP), an agency of the Commerce Cabinet, has added a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid to the cabinet’s vehicle fleet.
