Independent Living Council seeks input from consumers

FRANKFORT, Ky.  – The Kentucky Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is inviting the public to comment on independent living services as input into the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) during a forum at the end of the month in Frankfort.  The public forum will take place May 28, 1 – 3 p.m. at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Building located at 200 Mero Street in downtown Frankfort.

Kentuckians who are unable to attend the forum may send comments in any format (written, taped, phone call, etc.) to David Beach, 275 E. Main St., Mail Drop 2-EK, Frankfort, Ky. 40601 or call 800-372-7172 (Voice/TTY) by May 14, 2010.  If reasonable accommodations are needed for participation at the forum, please call David Beach at 1-800-372-7172 (Voice/TTY) at least one week prior to the forum you wish to attend.  Input can also be provided on-line at: ovr.ky.gov.

The SILC makes recommendations on the allocation of federal funds for independent living services, advises the Governor and legislature about issues impacting Kentuckians with disabilities, creates projects to help people with disabilities live independently, and monitors the implementation of the Statewide Plan for Independent Living.
