EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM MEMBERS TO VISIT
Assistance offered to consumers with insurance claims
FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 4, 2006) – Members of the Kentucky Office of Insurance emergency response team will be in Christian County on Thursday, April 6, going door to door in areas impacted by Sunday night’s storms.
“We need to be in the area, talking to consumers, in order to determine whether the insurance industry response is adequate,” said Glenn Jennings, executive director. “In most disasters, we find that companies respond very quickly with an adequate number of adjusters. If we find that additional resources are needed, we will contact the company.”
Team members also will distribute copies of the publication, “After the Storm Has Passed,” which contains tips on dealing with the claims process, how to prepare for natural disasters, information on rebuilding scams to avoid, as well as a complaint form. Copies are available by calling 1-800-595-6053 and pressing “1” for Consumer Protection and Education or online at http://doi.ppr.ky.gov/kentucky/ (look under “Hot Links”).
The Office of Insurance is an agency of the Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet.
