Kentucky Army National Guard Bardstown unit mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom
BARDSTOWN, Ky.– Kentucky Army National Guard officials will hold a departure ceremony in honor of the following unit:

The public is invited to this event.
The unit will depart Friday morning at for their mobilization station at Fort Dix, New Jersey, where they will under go several weeks of training prior to deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldiers of Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery will be tasked with providing convoy security and force protection while stationed in Iraq.
This is the first overseas deployment for Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery since serving a tour of duty from 1968-1969 in Vietnam. The unit also supported the post security mission at Fort Campbell, Ky., in 2003.
