FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Army National Guard will commission 15 new lieutenants at the Capitol Veranda during the Officer Candidate School graduation ceremony on Saturday Aug. 19, at 9 a.m.

“We are so excited to welcome these soldiers as lieutenants in the Kentucky National Guard,” said Maj. Gen. Donald C. Storm, Adjutant General of Kentucky. “These soldiers have worked hard and are the future leadership of our world class organization.”

The new officer candidates have endured months of physical training as well as schooling on becoming a leader in today’s military.

During the ceremony, the officer candidates will accept the Oath of Office as commissioned officers and receive the gold bar of second lieutenant. Each officer will have someone special in their life pin the gold bars to their uniform and render the first salute.

Storm will speak to the officers following the pinning ceremony. The public is welcomed to attend to show their support for the new leaders.
