Kentucky National Guard hosts ceremony for troops departing for Iraq

Shelbyville, Ky. -- The Kentucky Army National Guard will host a departure ceremony for the Soldiers of the 1163rd Medical Company at 6:30 p.m. EDT today, September 22, at the Clay Street Baptist Church, 1940 Midland Trail, Shelbyville, Ky.
The 1163rd Medical Company will travel to Fort Lewis, Wa., for several weeks of training before deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit will provide medical support to coalition forces during their tour of duty in Iraq.
This is the second deployment for in support of the Global War on Terror for the 1163rd Medical Company. The unit served in Afghanistan in 2003-2004.
