Kentucky Emergency Management
SEARCH AND RESCUE GRANTS AWARDED
FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 22, 2011)-As part of the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management's (KYEM) commitment to assist local Search and Rescue (SAR) teams, SAR grants have been awarded to 20 SAR teams across Kentucky.
"This grant will assist with critical needs of the Search and Rescue team," KYEM Assistant Director and State SAR Coordinator Charlie O'Neal said "In the fiscal year of 2009-2010, there were nearly 800 reported Search and Rescue missions throughout the Commonwealth. These numbers indicate a need to prioritize and provide funding to local Search and Rescue teams so they may continue to provide a much-needed service to their community."
KYEM continues to provide training and materials to SAR team members. The dedication and willingness to go beyond the call of duty of team members in Kentucky ensures that the safety and wellbeing of others is their personal priority.
