KENTUCKY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COMMONWEALTH EARTHQUAKE PLAN BRIEFING FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS

WHAT: Earthquake Plan Briefing for senior elected officials
John Heltzel, director of Kentucky Emergency Management, and Dr. William D. Hacker, commissioner of Ky Dept. for Public Health, will brief elected officials on Kentucky's earthquke plan and the upcoming 2011 National Level Exercise (NLE 11), which will be hosted by Kentucky and held May 16 - 20.
The NLE 11 is a federal Tier I exercise based upon a catastrophic earthquake in the New Mardrid Sesimic Zone. Several states will participate and test response capabilities, communications and emergency plans. Kentucky's overall objective is to build from the lessons learned to rewrite the Commonwealth Catastrophic Earthquake Response Plan.
