Department of Corrections
Participants Selected for 2009 Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program
Frankfort, Ky. (June 3, 2009) – Nominated from the Department’s nearly4,000employees, 46 candidates were interviewed and 26 ultimately selected for the 2009Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program that kicks off in less than two weeks.
Those chosen to participate represent nearly every aspect of the Department. Those selected not only distinguished themselves by being nominated out of the Department’s large number of employees, but also demonstrated their ability in the interview process against a field of extremely talented DOC professionals.
This will be the third installment of the Executive Leadership Program, a course implemented by former Commissioner John D. Rees and now continued by Commissioner LaDonna Thompson.
The instructor for the Executive Leadership Program is Dr. George Manning, a professor at Northern Kentucky University and an internationally-known speaker and consultant on the topic of leadership. He is the author of 11 books and his clients include AT&T, GE, Marriott, IBM, UAW and the National Institutes of Health. Manning also served as instructor for the Executive Leadership Programs during Commissioner Rees’ tenure.
The “textbook” for the program is Dr. Manning’s book, “The Art of Leadership,” now in its third series.
