Frankfort Career and Development Center Gets New Deputy Warden

     Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Department of Correction’s Deputy Commissioner James Schomig announced effective August 1, 2007 the promotion of Mervin (Merv) Haddix to Deputy Warden of the Frankfort Career and Development Center.
      “Haddix is a great fit for FCDC,” said Schomig. “He brings a wealth of skills and knowledge to the position and will be a true asset to the facility.”
      Haddix began his career as a Correctional Officer II in April of 1982 at the Kentucky State Reformatory (KSR). He worked his way through the system in the positions of Sergeant in 1985, Lieutenant in 1989, CERT Commander at KSR in 1991, Captain in 2002 at Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women, Correctional Unit Administrator I (CUA) at KSR in 2005 and CUA II at Roederer (RCC) in 2006. During his tenure at RCC, Haddix supervised the pre-release program, academic school, inmate legal aid office and served as the institutional transfer coordinator. He is currently serving as Central Region CERT Commander and is heavily involved in the training aspect of other CERT team members.   
      Haddix has received numerous awards during his career for outstanding performance including supervisor of the month at KSR and KCIW. He and his wife Donna live in Henry County and enjoy horseback riding, camping and fishing. Haddix is a member of the Kentucky Trail Riders Association, an avid golfer and UFC fan.
