Gary Barnes Promoted to Central Region Branch
Frankfort, Ky. (August 28, 2008) – Kentucky Department of Corrections, Director of Probation & Parole Lelia “Lee” VanHoose today announced that Gary Barnes has been promoted to Central Region Branch Manager. The Central Region Branch Manager is responsible for all operations within the Probation and Parole Districts of Frankfort, Newport, Danville, and three districts in Louisville. The promotion is effective September 1, 2008.
“I am very pleased and excited to announce the promotion of Gary L. Barnes to Central Region Branch Manager” said VanHoose. She further commented “Mr. Barnes has proven himself in difficult leadership roles and has the metal needed for such an important position.” Gary Barnes retired from the military after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He and his family returned to Kentucky upon his military retirement and was hired by the Department of Corrections as a Probation and Parole Officer in 2001. In early 2005, Gary was promoted to District Supervisor for District 3 in Bowling Green. During his tenure as District Supervisor, Gary Barnes continually displayed the dedication and hard work required to ensure success within the district and the Department of Corrections. These are the important qualities he will bring to this job. While serving in the Navy and stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Mr. Barnes graduated from Chaminade University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Mr. Barnes is originally from Hardin County and now lives in Cecilia with his wife, Rosita. He has two adult daughters, Cassandra and Theresa.
