Thursday, August 04, 2011 Blackburn Correctional Complex (BCC) received a near perfect score of 99.8 percent during its re-accreditation audit with the American Correctional Association (ACA). The audit took place July 18-20. The facility only missed one non-mandatory standard which can be easily resolved.

Bell will assume her new duties on August 1.

Foster will assume her new duties on August 1.

Thursday, July 21, 2011 Kentucky Department of Corrections Director of Probation & Parole Tim Carman today announced that Keith Decker was promoted to assistant supervisor of District 13 in Owensboro. District 13 covers nine counties including Crittenden, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Muhlenburg, Ohio, Union and Webster. Decker assumed his new duties on July 16.

Thursday, July 21, 2011 Kentucky Department of Corrections Director of Probation & Parole Tim Carman today announced that Charles Jonathon Porter was promoted to assistant supervisor of District 15 in Catlettsburg. District 15 covers 12 counties including Boyd, Bracken, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Johnson, Lawrence, Lewis, Martin, Mason and Morgan. Porter assumed his new duties on July 16.

Monday, July 18, 2011 Kentucky Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner Jim Erwin today announced the promotion of James Coyne to Deputy Warden of Programs at the Kentucky State Reformatory (KSR) in LaGrange. He will officially assume his new duties on July 16.

The unit is responsible for oversight of Internal Affairs investigations, PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) investigations, and STG (Security Threat Group) investigations.

Tuesday, May 31, 2011 Kentucky Department of Corrections Director of Probation & Parole Tim Carman today announced that Dewey Hackworth has been promoted to District 11 Supervisor. He will be supervising a total staff of 39 employees in six district offices covering Floyd, Pike, Knott, Magoffin, Letcher, Harlan, Perry, Clay, Leslie and Jackson counties. Hackworth’s promotion is effective June 1.

The state’s two and three-year recidivism rates are at the lowest mark in several years. The state prison population is also currently less than when we began 2010, and not just by a few inmates: 1,097 to be exact.

Tuesday, May 01, 2007 FRANKFORT, Ky. – An inmate at the Bell County Forestry Camp had his taste of freedom cut short thanks to the work of the new canine unit at the minimum-security prison. Despite a severe storm with heavy rain, Sean Lee Southerland, was apprehended just after midnight last night. Prison bloodhounds and the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) located him three miles from the prison.
