Kentucky Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner Kimberly Potter-Blair today announced that Terry A. Terrell has been hired as the Information Systems Manager for the Department. Terrell assumed his new duties on December 1.

“I am enthused about Terry being a part of our Information Technology team and most of all, joining our DOC family,” said Potter-Blair. “He has a learning curve ahead of him, but with his knowledge, expertise, and excitement he will quickly overcome that. He is a welcome addition to not only the IT staff, but the entire Department.”

Terrell began his state government career with the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority as a Systems Analyst. In 2004, he was promoted to the position of Resource Management Analyst III with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Office of Information Technology.  In 2007 he served as an analyst on the award winning KY-Child Application. The KY-Child Application beat out seven other states to win a national award at the American Council for Technology Conference in Virginia.

In 2008, Terrell was the lead analyst on the award winning KY Vital Event Tracking System (KVETS). The KVETS application won the Most Innovative Use of Technology - Government award at the Kentucky Digital Summit Best of Kentucky Awards.

Terrell is a graduate of Florida Community College of Jacksonville where he earned an Associate’s degree in business. He has also completed the Certified Managers Fundamentals course of the Certified Public Managers Program through Kentucky State University.
