I am pleased to announce the promotion of Joe Martin from Administrative Specialist III at WKCC to the position of Program Coordinator in the Central Office. Joe has been employed by the Department of Corrections since August 16, 2000 when he was hired in as a Correctional Officer at WKCC, also serving an additional year prior. He was promoted to Correctional Sergeant on August 1, 2003. On April 1, 2006 Joe was again promoted to Correctional Lieutenant. In March of 2011, Joe was promoted to Administrative Specialist III and served as the Procedures Officer and Accreditation Officer. He played a major role in WKCC receiving 100% in their initial ACA Accreditation after their conversion to a female institution. He was also responsible for converting all ACA files to an electronic version. Joe has served as the Internal Affairs Officer, as well as a Hostage Negotiation team member and a team leader. He is a 2006 Graduate of the Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program. Although assigned to Central Office as Program Coordinator, Joe will be located in the Western Region and will primarily be working to assist the efforts to bring KDOC in compliance with the new National PREA Standards. Joe’s job knowledge and experience will be an asset in his new position.
Please join me in congratulating Joe in his promotion as he assumes his new position, effective March 1, 2013.
