Butts Named District 16 Probation & Parole Supervisor

     Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Department of Corrections Director of Probation & Parole Lelia “Lee” VanHoose today announced that Michele Butts has been promoted to District 16 Supervisor. The district includes the northeastern part of Jefferson County.
      “Michele Butts has worked hard to gain this opportunity. She has been invaluable in training new and seasoned staff on the issues of Domestic Violence and supervision techniques to address these issues,” said VanHoose. “She has always gone the extra mile to assist in special assignments and has excelled in those duties. I am very pleased with her addition to the Probation and Parole management staff.” 
     Butts is a native of Goldsboro, Pa. She moved to Kentucky in 1987 to attend Eastern Kentucky University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Correctional Administration in 1989. She worked for Dismas Charities from 1990 until 1994 as a Court Liaison/Programs Counselor. In 1994 she joined the Department of Corrections as a Probation & Parole Officer in District 4. In 2003 Butts was promoted to Assistant District Supervisor of District 19. She is a member of the Southern States Correctional Association, the Correctional Accreditation Managers Association and the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency. She spends much of her time outside of work backpacking and snow skiing. She has been a member of the National Ski Patrol at Paoli Peaks, IN for over 10 years.
