Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Championship Oct. 21 at LBL
Kentucky’s Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area will serve as the site for the Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing Championship on Oct. 21.
This 24-hour race covering more than 100 miles will assess competitors’ trekking, mountain biking and paddling skills in one of the state’s top destinations for outdoor recreation. Both individuals and teams take part in the competition.
Checkpoint Tracker Adventure Racing is the largest national competitive adventure racing series in the United States. It comprises 171 events ranging from Sprint races lasting just a few hours to Expeditions that run non-stop for several days.
The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area includes 170,000 acres surrounded by over 300 miles of undeveloped shoreline on two separate lakes.
There are over 200 miles of single track trails open to hiking and biking with an additional 100 miles of backcountry jeep roads, but the most alluring feature of the Land Between the Lakes is its topography. Racers will encounter unique terrain that will challenge their navigation skills at every turn.
Lake Barkley State Resort Park at Cadiz is serving as the headquarters for the event.
The Kentucky Office for Adventure Tourism is a sponsor of this event, the second national adventure race championship held in Kentucky during October. To find out more about these events and other adventures across Kentucky, visit www.getoutKY.com.
