FRANKFORT, Ky. – Spring is approaching and that’s good news for kids, college students and even parents and grandparents because it means it’s time for spring break.  And that means getting out of the house and doing something fun!

Kentucky has hundreds of interesting places to visit during spring – including free (or nearly free) events, exploring the great outdoors or even taking a look underground.  This spring, the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet is making it even easier to experience Kentucky’s unbridled spirit by compiling a list of events occurring during Spring Break - March 15 through April 30.  The complete calendar is available at www.kytourism.com/springbreak

The calendar includes information on outdoor adventures such as hikes, nature walks, horseback riding and cave tours. Looking for indoor activities?  The calendar includes artisan demonstrations, entertainment and special exhibits.  Some locations on the list are offering special discounts and coupons during spring break.

“The spring is a great time to get outside in Kentucky and enjoy our beautiful wildlife and scenery,” said Travel and Tourism Commissioner Mike Cooper. “We’ve also got indoor fun with living history programs, art and crafts shows, theatrical productions and museums across the state.  It doesn’t matter what you chose to do, just as long as you get out and enjoy Kentucky.”

The listing features attractions and events from across the state, including those sponsored by the Kentucky State Parks, Kentucky Horse Park, Kentucky Historical Society, the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, the Kentucky Heritage Council, Kentucky State Fair Board and Humanities Council.

There are many activities and adventures available in Kentucky. They include golfing, hiking, boating, kayaking, rafting, canoeing, wildlife viewing, mountain biking, rock climbing, ATV riding, touring farms and more.
