From an article in today’s Louisville Courier Journal:

SOMERSET, Ky. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers expects to shave two years off its repair job at the leaky Wolf Creek Dam in Southern Kentucky. The work could be done in 2012, if not sooner, because of strong support from members of Congress that could speed federal funding, said engineer Mike Zoccola, chief of the corps' Nashville District civil design branch.

GOVERNOR FLETCHER TO HOLD TOWN HALL MEETING IN RUSSELL SPRINGS

 

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher and members of his staff will visit Russell Springs on Friday for a town hall meeting to discuss ­­issues concerning Wolf Creek Dam.  The meeting will be at 3 p.m. Central time at the Charlene S. Harris Educational Center, 848 Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs.

The following are Corps operated and Commercial Marina boat ramps that we believe will be usable at elevation 680 (* these ramps will be monitored closely; conditions are subject to change as the elevation lowers):

LAKE CUMBERLAND PHOTOS WANTED!

 

We are looking for photos of Lake Cumberland at the 680’ level. We will use the photos to reach as many folks as we can and show them the lake has plenty of water.

 

We only want photos that have been taken since the lake settled at 680’ on 2/12 or after. Please send them to me at this e-mail address.

 

When sending your photo please acknowledge that you are letting us use the photos free of charge and we have your permission to do so.

Public Meeting on Wolf Creek Dam Planned in Russell Springs, Kentucky

 

NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 23, 2007) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, will hold a public meeting in Russell Springs, Ky., at the Russell County High School gymnasium, 2166 South Highway 127 on March 8. Officials will try to answer the questions of residents concerning the recent announcement to lower the lake level at Wolf Creek Dam.

 

Public Meetings on Wolf Creek Dam Planned in Burkesville, Kentucky and Celina, Tennessee

 

NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 23, 2007) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, will hold public meetings in Burkesville, Ky., at the Cumberland County High School gymnasium, 912 North Main Street on March 15 and in Celina, Tenn., at the Clay County High School gymnasium, 1102 Clay County Highway on March 22.
