Additional Child Care Facility Regulations Forum Scheduled in Louisville
Another child care facility regulations forum is scheduled for July 24 in Louisville in response to the high attendance at statewide forums held early this year. These sessions update licensed child care directors, assistant directors and owners about new regulations regarding Kentucky child care facilities.
The forum will be hosted by the Division of Regulated Child Care Facilities in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ Office of Inspector General (OIG) and will be held at Walnut Street Baptist Church, 1101 South Third St., Louisville, from 1-4 p.m. July 24.
The forum is designed to improve licensed child care centers in Kentucky by educating providers about new regulations and how to implement them into their businesses. OIG staff will explain the new regulations and answer questions from owners and administrative staff.
“Provider awareness and education are essential as we work to implement new regulations to address the health and safety needs of Kentucky’s children,” said Inspector General Sadiqa N. Reynolds. “The Office of Inspector General wants to work with all providers to ensure that they fully understand and are following the new regulations. Our ultimate responsibility is to ensure Kentucky children are safe and protected while in licensed child care facilities.”
The forum offers information regarding the new licensed children care center regulations, which can be accessed at www.chfs.ky.gov/oig/drcc. Participants are encouraged to read the new regulations, which took effect July 1, before attending the forum.
By working with providers to educate them about child care facility regulations and standards, business owners and staff will be better equipped to care for children in their facilities, Reynolds said. The goal is to make sure the provider community understands the intent of each regulation and that each health and safety guideline is properly followed.
The forum is free and open to the public. Child care representatives who attend the forum receive three hours of training credit. Due to limited seating, advanced registration is required no later than July 22. To obtain a registration form or more information, call (502) 564-7962, ext. 3335, or visit www.chfs.ky.gov/oig/drcc.
