FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 5, 2007) – At the 11th annual Kids Are Worth It conference in Lexington on Thursday, Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) Secretary Mark D. Birdwhistell will talk about the cabinet’s early intervention and prevention efforts aimed at keeping children and families healthy and safe.
Birdwhistell will speak at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort, 1800 Newtown Pike, Lexington.
The event, sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, began with registration and preconference workshops today.
Birdwhistell will share the stage with PCAK Board President Kevin Noland and U.S. Attorney Amul R. Thapar of the Eastern District of Kentucky.
Kids Are Worth It offers workshops for social workers, law enforcement personnel, judges, child care professionals and others interested in preventing child abuse and neglect. It encourages community efforts to prevent child maltreatment and improve outcomes and services to children and families.
