More women currently serving in non-merit, director and above positions
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today his administration currently contains more women in non-merit, director and above positions compared to the number of women in those positions during the previous administration.
Statistics show a total of 205 women in higher-level positions as of April 16, 2004. As of April 16, 1996, when Governor Paul Patton had been in office as long as Governor Fletcher has at this current time, a total of 193 women were in those positions. These numbers reflect that Governor Fletcher has 12 more women in non-merit, director and above positions than the previous administration.
Included in the 205 positions under Governor Fletcher are 88 women working in the Governor’s Office. This compares to only 65 women who were working in the Governor’s Office as of April 16, 1996. 23 more women are currently working in the Governor’s Office in the Fletcher Administration compared to the same time frame during the Patton Administration.
“As Governor of this great Commonwealth, I am committed to providing opportunities of employment and growth for all qualified Kentuckians,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher. “I will continue to seek highly skilled, competent employees to carry out the responsibilities of state government.”
