| Appointment Reflects Governor Fletcher’s Commitment to the Minority Population in Kentucky
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today the appointment of Tierra Kavanaugh Turner as Director of the newly created Governor’s Office for Minority Empowerment.
The appointment reflects Governor Fletcher’s commitment to hiring minorities and strengthening relationships with the minority population of Kentucky.
“I have been disappointed that the percentage of minority employees in state government does not reflect the percentage of minorities in Kentucky. Even more disturbing is the fact that a number of minority employees in state government are in service and maintenance,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher. “Tierra’s main focus will be to improve those numbers and assist me in placing minorities in high ranking positions.” Tierra Turner was born and raised in Danville, Kentucky. She attended University of Louisville where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. She is currently the owner and operator of Executive Courier Express in Louisville. Turner is married to Jeffery Turner and they have one daughter.
“I am honored for the opportunity to work with this administration to empower minorities throughout this great Commonwealth,” said Turner.
