| Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher commended legislators today for passing Senate Bill 42; legislation to establish the Office of Minority Empowerment in the Office of the Governor.
“The main focus of the Office of Minority Empowerment is to provide more opportunities for each and every Kentuckian, regardless of race or gender,” said Governor Fletcher.
Governor Fletcher created the Office of Minority Empowerment in March 2004 by executive order. Tierra Kavanaugh Turner serves as the Executive Director.
“I commend Governor Fletcher for his ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for minorities in Kentucky, and I am honored to be a part of this effort,” said Turner.
The Kentucky House of Representatives passed Senate Bill 42 today. It was passed out of the Kentucky Senate on February 10th. The legislation was sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Dan Kelly. It will now be sent to Governor Fletcher for his signature.
