Governor Fletcher Names Derrick Ramsey to Deputy Cabinet Secretary Position

Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced Kentucky State Athletic Director Derrick Ramsey as Deputy Secretary of Commerce. Ramsey has served as Athletic Director as KSU since 1999.

“I am honored that Governor Fletcher has selected me to serve in this capacity,” said Derrick Ramsey. “I have always found Governor Fletcher to be a man a principle and character and I am proud to serve in his administration.”

Before Ramsey’s time with Kentucky State University, Ramsey worked for the University of Kentucky as Director of Community Relations from 1998-1999 and as Director of Development and Community Relations from 1996-1998. Ramsey previously served as a Community Relations Officer for UK in which he worked to bridge the gap between the University and the African-American Community.

 “Derrick embodies the type of character, values, and ideals that are the trademark of this administration,” stated Governor Fletcher. “He is a top notch individual who has a history of getting things done and I know he is ready and willing to work hard to make our state a better place for every Kentuckian.”
