Governor Ernie Fletcher Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Kentucky Soldier

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of Master Sgt. Thomas L. Bruner.

According to the Department of Defense, Master Sgt. Bruner, 50, of Owensboro, died Oct. 28 in Kabul, Afghanistan from a non-combat related illness. He was assigned to the Headquarters, 2nd Brigade, 100th Division, U.S. Army Reserve, Owensboro.

Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Master Sgt. Bruner’s funeral, which has not yet been determined.

Individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies are encouraged to join in this tribute by lowering flags in honor of Master Sgt. Bruner.
