Children Invited to Vote on Abby's Halloween Costume
Online contest will decide First Dog’s costume for annual Mansion trick-or-treat
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Trick-or-Treat at the Governor’s Mansion has a new twist this year – a contest in which children across the Commonwealth can place their votes to choose a Halloween costume for Abby, the First Dog.
Governor and Mrs. Ernie Fletcher will welcome trick-or-treaters to the Governor’s Mansion on Halloween, Oct. 31. That night, Abby will reveal which costume received the most votes.
“As children count down the days to Halloween, the ‘Choose Abby’s Halloween Costume’ contest will provide an exciting way for families to build anticipation for trick-or-treating and have fun together,” said First Lady Glenna Fletcher. “We encourage everyone to visit the Web site to vote, and we look forward to seeing many children and parents at the Governor’s Mansion on Halloween.”
Parents and teachers can help their elementary and middle school-age children vote by visiting Abby’s Web site at www.firstlady.ky.gov/abby. While there, children can learn more about Abby, her parents and her home, the Governor’s Mansion.
The annual “Trick-or-Treat at the Governor’s Mansion” event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31.
The Mansion will be decorated for the occasion with not-so-scary scenes and fun Halloween music.
