“Justice McAnulty has dedicated his career to the service of others, having served as a judge at all four levels of the judiciary. He is an accomplished jurist with a distinguished career. I was pleased to appoint Justice McAnulty to the Kentucky Supreme Court as the first African American to serve in that position in history. And I was pleased to see the voters recognize the caliber of this man by electing him. The timing of his illness is indeed unfortunate. He will no doubt face this challenge with the bravery and dignity of a man of his stature. Our thoughts and our prayers are with him in anticipation that he will soon return to service.”
