Governor Ernie Fletcher Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Kentucky Marine

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of Lance Cpl. Robert A. Lynch. 

According to the Department of Defense, Lynch, 20, of Louisville, died July 24 while conducting combat operations in Diyala province, Iraq.  He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan.

Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Lynch’s funeral, which has not yet been determined.

Individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies are encouraged to join in this tribute by lowering flags in honor of Lynch.
