Governor Ernie Fletcher Directs Flags to Remain at Half-Staff in Honor of Kentucky Soldier

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings remain at half-staff in honor of Pfc. Timothy R. Vimoto.

According to the Department of Defense, Vimoto, 19, of Fort Campbell, died June 5 in Korengal Valley, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by insurgents using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne) 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Camp Ederle, Italy.

Flags are currently at half-staff in honor of Cpl. Joshua M. Moore, of Russellville.  Moore’s funeral will be held today.  Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Vimoto’s funeral, which has not yet been determined.
