Kenny Bishop Nominated for Dove Music Awards
Nominations come on the heels of Grammy trip for Governor’s Mansion executive director
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kenny Bishop, executive director of the Governor’s Mansion, has again been recognized for his debut solo recording, this time with two Dove Award nominations.
Bishop’s single, “Don’t Let Who You Are Keep You Away” – which Bishop wrote – has been nominated in the category of Country Recorded Song of the Year. “The Prodigal’s Dad,” written by Jeff Steele, has been nominated for Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.
Both cuts are from Bishop’s self-titled CD – his first as a solo artist – which received a Grammy nomination of Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album.
“It’s great to see the music industry recognize the talent and faith Kenny shows through his music,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “Glenna and I are excited about Kenny’s nominations, and we are so proud of him for all he has accomplished with this solo recording.”
“Knowing the intense thought, prayer and process that went into the song selection for this recording, it is especially encouraging to see how these lyrics are reaching and touching so many,” Bishop said. “Both of these songs reveal my motive and commitment to telling the Gospel truth about grace.”
Bishop’s CD is on the Daywind label. For more information on Bishop, visit his Web site at www.kennybishop.com.
The 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards will be presented Wednesday, April 25, in Nashville.
