Executive Director of Governor's Mansion Nominated for Grammy Award
Kenny Bishop receives nomination for his first solo effort
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kenny Bishop, executive director of the Governor’s Mansion, has been nominated for a Grammy Award.
Bishop’s self-titled CD – his first as a solo artist – has been nominated in the category of “Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album.”
“Glenna and I were extremely excited when we received the news from Kenny that he has been nominated for a Grammy award,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “But we aren’t surprised – Kenny’s talent and faith are evident in all that he does. We are proud of Kenny and all that he has accomplished.”
Nominated along with Bishop are Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, the Del McCoury Band and the Gaither Vocal Band. This is the first time Bishop has been nominated as a solo artist for a Grammy award.
“This recording is simply a reflection of my passion for the message of God’s grace and forgiveness, and it is only because of Him that I can say today I am truly humbled by this honor,” Bishop said.
Bishop’s CD is on the Daywind label. For more information on Bishop, visit his Web site at www.kennybishop.com.
The 49th Annual Grammy Awards will be held Sunday, February 11, 2007, at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
