Governor Fletcher Directs Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Bowling Green Police Officer
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings remain at half-staff in honor of Bowling Green Master Police Officer David Whitson.
According to the Kentucky State Police, Whitson, 34, was shot and killed on the morning of Tuesday, October 31, while responding to a call for assistance.
Flags are currently at half-staff in honor of Lance Cpl. Jonathan B. Thornsberry, of McDowell, who died October 25 in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Thornsberry’s funeral will be held Friday, November 3 in McDowell.
Flags will remain at half-staff throughout the state until sunset on the day of Whitson’s funeral. Arrangements have not yet been determined.
