Governor Ernie Fletcher Directs Flags to Remain at Half-Staff in Honor of Kentucky Marine

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has directed that flags at all state office buildings remain at half-staff in honor of Lance Cpl. Jonathan B. Thornsberry.

According to the Department of Defense, Thornsberry, 22, of McDowell, died October 25 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.  He was assigned to Marine Forces Reserve's 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, at Johnson City, Tenn.

Flags are currently at half-staff in honor of Staff Sgt. Garth D. Sizemore, of Mount Sterling, who died October 17 in Baghdad, Iraq.  Sizemore’s funeral will be held Saturday, October 28.

Flags will remain at half-staff throughout the state until sunset on the day of Thornsberry’s funeral.  Arrangements have not yet been determined.
