Governor Ernie Fletcher Announces Funding for Cynthiana Infrastructure Project
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Governor’s Office for Local Development (GOLD) visited Cynthiana today to present a ceremonial check for a Community Funds project in Cynthiana. Funds will be used for the Ballpark Pump Station and Force Main project.
“For a community to continue to grow, proper infrastructure must be in place,” said Governor Fletcher. “This project will reap great dividends for Cynthiana.”
The project is located on the south side of Cynthiana and consists of a new pump station capable of pumping 3 million gallons per day. These facilities will serve Cynthiana and the new Cynthiana-Harrison County industrial park. GOLD contributed $500,000 in Community Funds to the project.
Sen. R.J. Palmer II (D-Winchester) said, “Further development in the industrial park is an investment in the workforce of Harrison County. This funding will provide the area with an opportunity to create new jobs.”
Rep. Thomas McKee (D-Cynthiana) said, “This project illustrates the community’s commitment to be more business friendly and build on the partnerships that the city and county have with their corporate citizens.”
Due to streamlining and efficiency efforts in GOLD, the office had an excess of monies in its general fund. These funds may be allocated as essential or gap funding for projects that may otherwise not be eligible for grant funding from GOLD administered programs, giving the money back to the community.
Funds are given based on availability and administered by GOLD.
