Governor Fletcher Orders Flags to be Ceremoniously Lowered to Honor Fallen Miners
Flags will be flown at half-staff during the hour of each miner’s funeral
FRANKFORT, Ky. – In remembrance of the miners who lost their lives in Saturday’s Harlan mine accident, Governor Fletcher has ordered a state flag to be flown at half-staff over the state capitol during the hour of each miner’s funeral. After each flag is flown, it will be sent to the families of the represented miner.
“Kentuckians continue to mourn for the families and friends of those who died in Saturday’s accident,” said Governor Fletcher. “Lowering a flag for each miner is a small way we can pay our respects and offer condolences to their families.”
