Deputy Secretary of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Accepts New Position
Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today he has appointed Richard “Dick” Murgatroyd to serve as his Deputy Chief of Staff. Murgatroyd has served as the Deputy Secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet since January of 2004.
“I am truly honored to accept the position as the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff,” said Dick Murgatroyd. “I have enjoyed serving in the Fletcher administration for more than a year now. I look forward to working closely with Governor Fletcher and Chief of Staff Stan Cave to address the needs of all families in the commonwealth.”
Prior to joining the administration in the Transportation Cabinet, Murgatroyd held the position of Kenton County Judge Executive. Before serving as Judge Executive, Murgatroyd served two terms (four years) as state representative for the 63rd legislative district in northern Kentucky. Murgatroyd has also been extremely involved in the communities of northern Kentucky by serving on numerous boards and commissions throughout the region.
“Dick Murgatroyd has a proven history of being a very effective leader,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “I greatly appreciate the dedication he has shown in his role at the Transportation Cabinet. I know he will be an outstanding leader as my Deputy Chief of Staff.”
Murgatroyd’s new position is effective immediately. His replacement in the Transportation Cabinet has not been named.
