Frankfort, KY: You now have the opportunity to display the state's new brand - "Kentucky: Unbridled Spirit" - on your vehicle. Governor Ernie Fletcher is offering free bumper stickers upon request.
"As I travel across the Commonwealth, I've been encouraged by the number of Kentuckians who have joined us in this new way of thinking about the Commonwealth. People want to rid the state of negative stereotypes and negative thinking, and they want to do what they can to promote Kentucky. The first way they can do this is by showcasing our new 'Unbridled Spirit' on their cars and trucks."
The Governor has directed that state vehicles start displaying the brand. That process will begin later this week.
"Unbridled Spirit "was announced Nov. 24 as Kentucky's new brand after a month-long public voting process. The brand will be used in state advertising, signs, stationery, brochures, Web sites and other information that comes from the Commonwealth. It will also be used to help market Kentucky goods and services in the private sector.
The first 10,000 bumper stickers were snatched up within days, according to Randy Fiveash, Kentucky's Tourism Commissioner. More have been ordered, and anyone who wants one will get one.
"The more people who show the brand and talk about it, the more the rest of the world will realize how special Kentucky is," said Commissioner Fiveash." 'Unbridled Spirit' represents who we are and who we want to be."
