Frankfort, KY: Under the leadership of Governor Ernie Fletcher, more than 2,100 new and expanding manufacturing and service jobs have been created in Northern Kentucky this past year representing an investment in excess of $230 million in the region, almost doubling the number of jobs created in the previous year in Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton and Pendleton Counties.

“Since coming into office, my administration has maintained a passionate commitment to economic development,” stated Governor Fletcher. “The Northern Kentucky region has earned an unmatched reputation for quality of life, excellence of the workforce and quality of industry.   Leading the national average in productivity, the region reflects a positive business environment that has attracted companies of all sizes to choose this area for their business location.”

Major announcements made last week by Governor Fletcher include a $75 million expansion by North American Stainless in Carroll County creating 175 new jobs and the location of Taylor & Francis Group, a new international publishing company which will establish a 350,340 square foot distribution center in Florence, creating more than 50 new jobs.

In addition, Saalfeld ReDistribution, a key business of xpedx, which is International Paper’s national distributor of printing paper, packaging facility supplies and graphic imaging pre-press equipment and supplies broke ground Friday on a 483,000 square foot customer service center in Hebron which will create an additional 40 new jobs for Kentuckians.

“Although out of the immediate region, the close proximity of LG&E Energy’s recently announced $1.2 billion coal-fired power plant to be constructed in Trimble County will also improve upon our ability to provide quality, affordable power to the people of Northern Kentucky and future business prospects in the area,” added Governor Fletcher.

Other notable job-creating announcements occurring in the Northern Kentucky region this past year include: Stonehouse Building Products LLC, C W Zumbiel Company, Fuji Autotech USA LLC, WILD Flavors, Inc., Schwan’s Food Manufacturing Inc., and Delta Connection Comair.
