Frankfort, KY:  Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today that Personnel Cabinet Secretary Robert “Bob” Ramsey is moving to another position within the administration.  Details of the position will be announced later.

“We really appreciate Bob Ramsey’s diligent service as Secretary of the Personnel Cabinet,” said Governor Fletcher.  “As we move forward, Bob will continue to play a key role in this administration.”

Erwin Roberts has been named the new Secretary for the Personnel Cabinet.

“It’s a great honor to serve Governor Fletcher in this capacity,” said Roberts.  “I look forward to working with the Governor, other Cabinet Secretaries and our dedicated state employees.”

“Erwin Roberts is a tireless public servant.  He is a tremendous talent and we are fortunate to have him serving as a Cabinet Secretary,” stated Governor Fletcher.

Roberts joined the administration this past spring serving as Director of the Office of Homeland Security.  Under his direction, the Office of Homeland Security was built from scratch. It has administered nearly $40 million in grants to state and local governments. Just last week, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge applauded the office and said it is a ‘model for the rest of the country.’

At the same time, significant steps have been taken toward creation of a statewide, “interoperable” communication system for all emergency responders – law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services.

“I am extremely proud of Erwin’s work in building the Office of Homeland Security, and I look forward to working with him as the Secretary of the Personnel Cabinet,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “Erwin will be a tremendous asset to the Personnel Cabinet and my administration.”
