John Chowning of Campbellsville Appointed By Governor Fletcher

Frankfort, KY: Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today the appointment of John Chowning to the State Personnel Board. The Kentucky Personnel Board promotes merit principles in government service and the improvement of personnel standards in the state service.

John Chowning currently serves as Vice President for Church and External Relations and Executive Assistant to the President at Campbellsville University. Chowning also serves as Chair of the Campbellsville-Taylor County Industrial Development Authority Team, member of the board of the Center for Rural Development, and numerous other boards and civic organizations.

During his tenure at CU, John Chowning has helped establish Campbellsville University’s Kentucky Heartland Institute on Public Policy and serves as the institute’s director. Chowning is also a member of the Kentucky Industrial Development Council and Campbellsville-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce.

The Kentucky Personnel Board has the authority to conduct investigations of merit system violations and to promulgate administrative regulations concerning the state personnel system.
