Frankfort, KY:  In an effort to reach out to the deaf and hard of hearing community, a new TDD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) has been installed in the Governor’s Office.  Constituents can simply call the regular number (502-564-2611) and those who are deaf and hard of hearing will be directed to the Governor’s constituent services, where the TDD is located.

“Being accessible to each and every constituent is very important so that we can provide the best service possible,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “By installing this new telecommunications device, we will be able to reach out to more people and meet their needs.”

Dr. Bobbie Beth Scoggins, Executive Director of the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, said “I applaud this effort from the Governor’s Office in making his office accessible to everyone, regardless of disability.  The installation of a TDD in the office will greatly enhance direct access to his office for the deaf and hard of hearing – especially those who do not have computers with high speed connections and still must rely on phone service.  I greatly encourage the deaf and hard of hearing community to utilize this tool to let Governor Fletcher know of any issues or concerns that you may have.”
