Kentucky to be featured in Forbes Magazine
Steve Forbes Applauds State’s Progress
FRANKFORT, Ky. - Governor Ernie Fletcher and Steve Forbes, President & CEO of Forbes Inc., today announced details of a collaborative partnership between Kentucky and Forbes magazine to showcase Kentucky to the country’s top business and tourism executives.
Forbes will produce a special advertising section featuring Kentucky’s economic development and tourism advantages. The section is scheduled to appear in the May 22, 2006, issues of Forbes and Forbes Asia and will reach newsstands May 8, 2006.
“Recent wins such as the 2010 World Equestrian Games and the 2008 Ryder Cup are showing that the sports world comes to Kentucky to compete,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “Add to that an international corporation such as Toyota choosing to produce its new hybrid vehicle here, and you have proof that Kentucky is an aggressive player in the business world as well. We want to encourage more jobs and people to come to Kentucky, and Forbes is the perfect vehicle for us to use to make that happen.”
The section, titled “Kentucky Unbridled Spirit” will appear in the annual “Best Places” issue of Forbes and will highlight Kentucky’s impressive business and tourism environment to national and international senior executives who make investment, expansion, relocation and meeting site decisions for their corporations. Kentucky businesses, tourism organizations and communities will be solicited to partner with the commonwealth and Forbes by becoming a sponsor in the supplement.
The Forbes section will underline Kentucky’s business and tourism strengths such as:
• Inviting business climate and central location
• Affordable real estate and high quality of life
• Productive workforce and excellent worker training programs
• Diversity of visitor attractions throughout the commonwealth
“I was impressed when, several weeks ago, Governor Fletcher brought his top economic development and business leaders to my office in New York to discuss the state’s progress and to ask us to partner with them on this effort,” said Steve Forbes. “I wanted to come to Kentucky to meet with Kentucky business and tourism leaders. Now, I share their excitement in Kentucky’s future, and this supplement will highlight that excitement and progressive attitude.”
