Office of State Budget Director names new Communications Director
Michael Goins moving from Governor’s Communications Office
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher and Brad Cowgill, State Budget Director, announce the appointment of Michael Goins as Director of Communications for the Office of State Budget Director.
“Our commonwealth’s budget is the engine that drives our state and provides the necessary services to our citizens,” Goins said. “I’m looking forward to working with Mr. Cowgill and his staff with their communication needs for the upcoming session.”
“Michael has been a great asset to our administration the past year and a half,” said Governor Fletcher. “We look forward to his continued service to my administration in the Office of State Budget.”
“We are pleased to have Michael coming on board,” said Brad Cowgill, State Budget Director. “His background in media and communications will serve my office well during the 2006 session.”
Since April, Goins has served as Deputy Communications Director for the Office of the Governor. Before that, Goins was Executive Director, Office of Public Affairs for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Before coming to work for the Fletcher administration, Goins worked as a television reporter in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, winning several awards for broadcast excellence. He is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.
Goins is a native of Cumberland and recently lived in the Ashland area. He, his wife Beth and daughter Meghan currently reside in Georgetown. Goins will officially start in his new position December 1.
