Governor Ernie Fletcher announces emergency funds available to counties hit by tornadoes
Funds from Transportation Cabinet to cover clean-up costs, repairs to infrastructure
FRANKFORT, Ky. - Governor Ernie Fletcher announced today that emergency funds will be made available to cover cleanup and damage costs in Crittenden, Hart and Henderson County. The funds will come from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
“Our commonwealth has a great history of helping our neighbors in their time of need,” said Governor Fletcher. “I want all our citizens to know that we are steadfast in responding quickly to disaster emergencies such as this. This money will help counties and cities hard hit by Sunday’s tornadoes to begin repair and cleanup efforts on the road to recovery.”
The money from the Transportation Cabinet will be used to pay for costs associated with debris cleanup and removal from county and city roads and also repairs to infrastructure damaged by the storms.
“The Transportation Cabinet is pleased to be able to provide assistance to those hit hardest by the tornadoes,” said Acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “We applaud Governor Fletcher’s leadership and stand willing to help in whatever way we can. When we say safe and reliable roads for Kentuckians we mean just that”
