Kathryn G. Wood accepts appointment
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher today announced the appointment of Kathryn G. Wood, of Somerset, to the office of District Judge for the 28th Judicial District, District 2, which covers Pulaski and Rockcastle Counties.
Wood replaces David Tapp, who was recently appointed as a Circuit Judge for Pulaski, Rockcastle and Lincoln Counties.
“I am honored to have been appointed to this very important position,” said Wood. “I look forward to working hard to serve the citizens of Pulaski and Rockcastle Counties.”
A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, Wood most recently practiced law in her own private firm. She is a member of the Kentucky Bar Foundation Board of Directors, the Kentucky Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Pulaski Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Wood also served as president of the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and as a faculty member for the Department of Public Advocacy’s Trial Practice Institute. In November of 1999, she received the Juvenile Justice Award from the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Wood fills the remainder of Tapp’s term, which ends the first Monday of January 2007.
