FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Ernie Fletcher has appointed five members to the State Plumbing Code Committee.

Ricky Lee Russ, of Louisville, is a journeyman plumber for Plumbers and Pipefitters 502.  Russ is a member of the United Association of Plumbers Local 502 and the St. Rita Booster Club. He is married to Debbie M. Russ.

John A. Watson, of Paducah, is a professional engineer and businessman employed by Purchase Engineering. Watson received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society and the National Fire Protection Association. He is married to Judith Watson.

Barry D. Swift, of Paducah, is a mechanical contractor for Swift and Stanley Mechanical.  Swift is the past president of the Western Kentucky Construction Association. 

Gary W. Schardein, of Louisville, is the owner of F.S. Schardein and Sons. Schardein received a degree in industrial education from Morehead State University. He is a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association and the University of Kentucky Alumni Association. He is married to Deanna Schardein.

Robert Garner Fleenor, of Bowling Green, is a plumbing contractor for Fleenor Plumbing, LLC. Fleenor is a member of the Home Builders Association of Bowling Green and the South Central Plumbing Association. He is married to Beverly S. Fleenor.

The State Plumbing Code Committee is made up of seven gubernatorial appointees. The committee is responsible for regulating the licensing and conduct of plumbers and for setting plumbing regulations within the commonwealth. The committee is attached to the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction for administrative purposes.
